Brett Lirette received his 2nd State Exam degree from Christian Albrechts University of Kiel, Germany. From there he worked as an R&D Organic Chemist, synthesizing experimental lipophilic antioxidants with a focus on instrumental analysis of the final products for identification and quantitation. Moving away from R&D, Brett worked as a Lab Manager in two Commodity Chemical Manufacturing facilities where quality was of the highest priority. Being a lab manager, Brett was responsible for instrument maintenance, calibrations, SQC, and keeping up with industry standards of analytical techniques and equipment. Brett currently works for Shimadzu Scientific Instruments, first as a Service Engineer, and now as Technical Support Scientist in the Texas Gulf Coast Region. His role as a Technical Support Scientist puts him working with the majority of Shimadzu instrumentation including TOC, GC, HPLC, and various elemental and molecular spectroscopy assisting customers with training, troubleshooting, method development, and software/hardware installation.
