Janel Dempsey is originally from Cleveland, OH and obtained her bachelor's degree in chemistry from John Carroll University in 2016. She received her Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry from the University of Notre Dame in 2021. She then completed a year-long postdoctoral appointment in the Chemical Separations Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She now works at SPECTRO Analytical Instruments in Wilmington, MA as an ICP Applications Specialist, providing support for both the ICP-OES and ICP-MS product lines.
