2025 - Bryan Katzenmeyer

Director
JEOL

Bryan Katzenmeyer is a business professional and former scientist with over 15 years of experience in mass spectrometry and separation techniques. He has expertise in the characterization of materials, polymers, monomers, and small molecules, and he has held various business and technical roles across several organizations. Currently, Bryan works at JEOL where he is responsible for mass spectrometry business development. Prior to joining JEOL, Bryan worked for Waters Corporation, where he managed the Materials Science market segment throughout the Americas focusing on separation science, mass spectrometry, informatics, and chemistry consumables. Bryan has also worked as an Analytical Group Leader and Senior Scientist at Valspar, which is now part of Sherwin-Williams. Here, he managed the liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry team. The team focused on developing and validating analytical methodologies to characterize extractables/leachables, polymers, oligomers, monomers, and other small molecules in packaging coatings for the food and beverage industries. Bryan holds a doctorate in Polymer/Analytical Chemistry from The University of Akron, where he conducted research under Distinguished Professor Chrys Wesdemiotis. His research focused on interfacing liquid chromatography and ion mobility separation with multi-dimensional mass spectrometry for the structural characterization of polymeric materials. Additionally, he obtained a M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.S. in Chemistry from Penn State University.
