Stephen Medlin has a BS from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University in analytical chemistry.  He had a Post-Doc at the US Army Reserearch Laboratory where he studied the application of Artificial Neural Networks in the interpretation of Raman spectra.  While there, he also worked on a project that led to 2 patents and Tom Clancy using the idea in his book, "Tom Clancy's Power Plays".  He is the application scientist at Quantum Analytics supporting SIFT, NMR, Vibrational Spectroscopy, GC-MS, and other analytical techniques.
