Michael earned his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Calgary in 2005 and his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry under Kevin Thurbide at the University of Calgary in 2011 with a thesis entitled “Novel Separation Techniques Employing Subcritical Water and Supercritical Carbon Dioxide”. After graduate school, Michael joined the Separations Research organization of Waters Corporation. In his role as a Research Scientist, Michael has developed novel gas, liquid, and supercritical-phase separation instrumentation and detection technologies. Michael has seven peer reviewed publications, over 40 patents granted or in process, and many conference presentations garnering multiple presentation awards. In 2014, Michael was included in The Analytical Scientist's 40 under 40 Power List. Michael has a passion for STEM communication and education and is involved in teaching and outreach programs throughout Massachusetts.
