Abstract:

Standard method publications by ASTM, CEN & IP have thus far largely driven adoption of GCVUV technology.  A review of current and future regulatory plans for GCVUV methods will be discussed.  This includes applications to gasoline (D8071/EN 18016), jet fuel (D8267), diesel (D8368), the CEN diesel method, and waste plastic process oil (D8519).  The ASTM water-in-LPG LUMA method is near publication.  GCVUV also provides a unique boiling-point distribution by hydrocarbon class (aromaticity), enabling hydrocarbon-type characterization of higher-boiling products and intermediates up to C44.  ASTM proficiency test programs include GCVUV, and comparative results for alternative methods will be discussed.
