As biodiesel blending becomes increasingly common, accurately determining FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester) content in diesel fuel is essential for quality control and regulatory compliance. ASTM D7371 offers a faster, simpler alternative to traditional gas chromatography methods, using mid-infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy to determine FAME content directly.

Attendees will learn the operating principles behind FTIR-based FAME analysis, how D7371 compares to GC-based methods in terms of speed and complexity, and best practices for calibration, method validation, and sample handling.
