Abstract:

Used oil analysis is a cornerstone of predictive maintenance. FTIR spectroscopy offers a fast, reagent-free approach to condition monitoring, delivering results in minutes compared to traditional multi-test lab workflows.

Attendees will learn how FTIR detects key degradation markers — including oxidation, nitration, sulfation, soot, and water contamination — along with glycol and fuel dilution in a single scan. The session will cover best practices for spectral interpretation, method setup, and correlating FTIR results with traditional reference methods. Attention will also be given to how rapid FTIR screening supports trend-based maintenance programs and reduces reliance on slower, more costly lab testing.
