Abstract:
Environmental samples contain complex mixtures of chemicals, many of which remain unidentified using conventional targeted analysis. GC×GC–TOF MS offers greater chromatographic separation and a more detailed view of these chemical profiles. In this study, we combine GC×GC–TOF MS with automated chemometric tools to compare water samples and identify the differences between them. Samples collected before, during and after treatment were used to assess changes in chemical composition through the treatment process. This approach highlights changes in emerging contaminants including personal care products, flame retardants and disinfection by-products, and provides a practical way to compare complex environmental samples.
