Fatty Acid Methyl Esters are contaminants in jet fuel that must be limited to less 50 ppm to comply with specifications like ASTM D1655 and DEF STAN 91-91. Their presence can lead to operational issues in aircraft engines, such as combustion instability and fuel gelling.
An accelerated GC-MS method for IP 585 was validated to reduce analyis time by as much as 50%. After analysis, the simulaneouly obtained TIC data was used for targeted screening of components of interest
