Abstract:
Combustion Ion Chromatography (C-IC) provides an important tool for total fluorine, other halogens and sulfur determination across traditional and emerging matrices. This presentation will explore the TE Instruments Xprep C-IC for ASTM D7994 analysis of LPG and ASTM D7359 analysis of pyrolysis oil, including automated sample handling, combustion, collection, and IC analysis. Particular attention will be given to fluorine determination and the expanding need for halogen and sulfur characterization in complex materials. The presentation will also look ahead to ongoing ASTM method development for waste plastics, highlighting opportunities for C-IC in recycling, circular-economy, and emerging fluorine-screening applications.
