Abstract:
Petroleum lab operations are essential to the analysis and testing of crude oils and their products. In recent years, AI has been improving at an unprecedented rate, allowing these processes to be quicker, cheaper, and less labor intensive. There have been notable developments in the testing of physical properties such as viscosity, flash point, octane number, and vapor pressure. These are critical to both fuel quality and regulatory compliance. By comparing recent AI methods, this review will show how practitioners can take advantage of emerging AI technologies in order to streamline their compositional analysis and physical property testing.
