Abstract:

In the refining industry, the speciation analysis of sulfur and nitrogen components is of paramount importance due to their significant impact on both the processing and the quality of the end products. Sulfur and Nitrogen compounds, while naturally occurring in crude oil, are considered undesirable impurities. They can form corrosive salts during processing, increase the risk of product leakage during transportation, and alter catalyst activity during refining operations.

Gas chromatographs equipped with a chemiluminescence detector offers the possibility of characterizing these species resulting in a more detailed chemical composition characterization. As a gas chromatographic detector, the PAC SeNSe2 Chemiluminescence Detector is the most advanced GC Detector available for the specific determination of sulfur and/or nitrogen containing compounds. SeNSe2 provides best sensitivity, best baseline stability and best equimolarity for accurate detection and quantification of S &N containing components and can be used with various type of Gas chromatography Analyzers.
