Abstract:
Annually, about 400 million tons of plastic waste are generated globally, with less than 9% recycled. Pyrolysis oils derived from plastic waste are considered renewable energy, offering alternatives to fossil fuels or petrochemical feedstock. However, their composition varies based on the plastic feedstock and pyrolysis process, with trace impurities potentially affecting quality and usability. GC×GC, an advanced separation technique, is ideal for analyzing these complex mixtures. This study develops a group-type separation using thermally-modulated GC×GC for robust classification of chemical classes in pyrolysis oils from various sources.
