Abstract:
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have been used extensively across nearly all industries. The environmental hazard and health concern of PFAS has created a need for an analytical screening method. Combustion ion chromatography (CIC) eliminates the sample matrix and determines the concentration of halogens and sulfur present. Here, we show our results from the U.S. EPA draft Method 1621 collaboration study in which CIC was used to determine adsorbable organic fluorine (AOF) captured on granular activated carbon. Method validation, analysis of wastewater samples, and recovery results of PFAS standards are shown.
