Abstract:

4°C is the accepted industry standard for the outlet dew point of a thermoelectric cooler.  While this temperature is well below the ambient temperature of an environmentally controlled analyzer shed and therefore expected to prevent condensation often water will still accumulate within an analyzer causing damage to the sensors and affecting analytical accuracy. Polishing a sample gas refers to further drying the sample gas after a thermoelectric conditioning system and prior to an analyzer. The result is an even lower dew point that helps to avoid issues relating to unexpected condensation caused by residual water vapor in the gas sample.
