Abstract:
Synthetic polymers are widely used in our daily life. As the world demands more sustainable, more affordable and higher-performance industrial and consumer products, there is a strong need to develop new polymeric materials that are biodegradable or derived from renewable raw materials. Higher degree of chemical heterogeneity or presence of more polymeric impurities are among the many challenges in developing more sustainable materials. In this presentation, we will discuss how comprehensive two-dimensional liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LCxLC-MS) can provide new insights in the understanding of complex industrial polymeric materials at a molecular structure level.
