Abstract:
Not all samples are amenable to direct injection into an ion chromatograph. In such cases, combustion ion chromatography can be an important tool for the analysis of halogens and sulfur in a variety of sample matrices. Basic concepts in combustion ion chromatography (Combustion IC, CIC) analysis will be introduced with practical industry-based applications. Topics will include an overview of ASTM methodologies in the petrochemical industry that feature Combustion IC, as well as a look at analyzing polymer processing additives. Exemplary data from these methods will be presented.
