Abstract:
The analysis of moisture in chemical production and solvent recovery is commonly performed by coulometric Karl Fischer titration (KFT) in an offline wet chemistry lab. The time required for measurements and manual sampling often cause a lag between receiving data and process implementation. This results in either unnecessary drying steps or insufficient drying, increasing costs. A better solution is online NIR measurement. However, NIR instruments often require significant effort to calibrate, especially at the levels required for many high-purity streams.
In this talk, we demonstrate a system that eliminates the calibration effort by automatically building and checking the calibration, without manual sampling. This capability allows moisture measurement systems to be calibrated at the factory down to approximately 5 ppm and installed in pipelines and reactors without additional calibration effort.
