Abstract:

In 2021 Dow began a collaboration with Waters Technologies Corporation to evaluate a new robust mass spectrometry screening tool for identification of components up to 1200 Da. The RADIAN Atmospheric Solids Probe (ASAP) provides an easy-to-use interface for rapidly collecting atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) data on solid and liquid samples.  The glass sampling probe was used to characterize a variety of samples including surfactants, sealants, gels, polymers, and additives. The system requires minimal utilities for operation and very little modification is necessary to install the equipment.  The compact design makes it ideal for use in labs with limited space.  The presentation will demonstrate how this new tool was utilized to characterize a wide variety of solid and liquid samples.
