Abstract:
Lubricating oils are the lifeblood of oil-wetted machinery. In this study, ASTM D4951 method is demonstrated with Analytik Jena’s PlasmaQuant 9100 Elite, equipped with an organic sample introduction kit. Linear calibrations were obtained with correlation coefï¬cients greater than 0.9999 for all elements. ASTM D4951 expects detectability in the low mg/kg range for most elements to be sufficient. The method detection limits (MDL) of all analytes are below 90 µg/kg. To evaluate the long-term stability, 50 quality control samples were analyzed continuously. For all the elements, the recovery of quality control standards was within ± 5 % of the expected value.
