Abstract:
An unknown white powder was continuouesly plugging the filters in an Aqeous Process Line causing the Unit to shut down for maintenance. Samples were rushed to the lab for analysis. Initial testing by the plant lab did not determine what the white powder was. Introduction of this powder sample using Pyrolysis to both a GC/MS and FT-IR, and using the libraries of both instruments, helped determine what the precipitate was and where it was coming from.
