Abstract:

As ASTM and ISO regulations around sulfur content become more stringent, performance-based norms are more important than ever. One example is ISO 13032, soon to be updated. Meeting these and equivalent performance requirements with EDXRF previously required expensive helium.

But no longer. The highly sensitive Epsilon 1 ULS from MalvernPanalytical meets the requirements without any helium – and has an impressive LLD below 1 ppm. Moreover chlorine can be measured at low ppm levels next to percentage measurements of sulfur, for example in spot crude. Examples and details will be presented.
