Abstract:
Since its installation in 2018 at the Sherwood Park, Alberta refinery, on-line Process Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) continues to provide real-time crude assay and property measurements on Canadian bitumen heavy crude feeds including cut points, distillation fractions, densities, asphaltenes, water content, etc. This presentation will provide an overview of the installation, measurements, and integration into the refinery’s control and optimization programs. Reliability of the NMR system contributing to improved refinery operational and economic performance will also be presented.
