Abstract:
Excimer UV Fluorescence (EUVF) is a relatively new technology that has demonstrated an unsurpassed linear dynamic range than that achievable with conventional UV Fluorescence analyzers. This has allowed it to successfully meet the sulfur measurement and calibration requirements of regulatory standard US EPA 40 CFR Part 60.18 Subpart Ja, using a single valve and calibration standard over the entire measurement range. EUVF has also demonstrated excellent sensitivity making it ideal for accurate, low-level measurement of sulfur in fuels, to meet required reductions in global emissions. Standards such as the American Tier III, European Euro 6, and the Indian Bharat VI set quantitative limits on permissible amounts of specific pollutants that can be released during combustion where the emission of oxides for both Sulfur and Nitrogen are regulated. Data will be presented showing successful compliance to repeatability requirements within limits set by these standards. EUVF has also been shown to exhibit unsurpassed nitrogen interference, making it the choice for precise measurement of low sulfur levels required by these regulations, particularly when high nitrogen content is present. EUVF is now a proven technology with ATOM Instrument, part of Process Insights, being the only manufactured brand incorporating this superior version of UV fluorescence in their analyzers.
