Abstract:
Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Raman spectroscopy both utilize molecular vibrations to study and analyze chemicals The former uses absorption spectroscopy where the latter involves light scattering off the molecule. The two techniques are used in microspectroscopy for material >100 µm in size. This presentation will illustrate the applications and advantages of both techniques depending on the type of sample being studied.
