Abstract:

The measurement of Ethylene Oxide (EO) from stationary sources has recently gained significant interest due to new proposed emission and exposure standards. To measure any gas at ppb levels in real-time requires ultra-sensitive instrumentation and insensitivity to cross-interferences present in the sample matrix. Sample transport can also be a challenge at these levels, and adequate QA/QC must be performed to demonstrate that the technology is producing accurate and defensible results. All these challenges will be discussed and how they are handled within FTIR-based continuous emissions monitoring (CEM) systems.
