Abstract:

The LUMA™ is a new smaller footprint gas chromatography detector developed by VUV Analytics.  The detector measures from 120 to 500 nm, inclusive of the vacuum ultraviolet spectrum range from 120 to 240 nm, nd collects up to 4 or 12 wavelength bands simultaneously depending on configuration. The LUMA™ is capable of collecting data with a chromatography data system to generate a chromatogram for peak detection.  As a proof of concept, the LUMA™ is being tested for several applications within Dow®, one of which is for detection of fuel markers.  Fuel markers are utilized globally to protect against fuel theft and laundering.  This seminar will highlight the features of the LUMA™ detector and possible application in fuel marker analysis with a single dimension gas chromatography method, as well as a two-dimensional gas chromatography method with heart-cutting by dean’s switch.
