Abstract:

Determining the water content of lubricants, hydraulic oils and other petrochemical samples can be challenging due to poor solubility, high viscosity and interfering reactions with Karl Fischer reagents. To address these challenges, ASTM has revised standard method D6304 to include the Karl Fischer oven technique. This auxiliary technique enables users to conveniently determine the water content of difficult samples by coulometric Karl Fischer titration using a gas extraction technique. ASTM has also addressed Karl Fischer analysis of very volatile samples with the new D7795 method.  This method describes how to accurately determine water content in liquefied and permanent gases Attend this talk to learn how to implement these methods and achieve reliable and accurate moisture analysis results for all types of petrochemical samples.
