Abstract:

Dissolved gas analysis (DGA) in transformer oil is a widely-used diagnostic tools for detecting and preventing faults in electrical equipment. A common analytical test method follows the ASTM D3612C guidelines, which specifies the static headspace sampling as extraction technique of the dissolved gases, followed by gas chromatographic separation and quantification. Robustness and reliability of the analytical system are of primary importance for high throughput testing laboratories involved in monitoring the proper functionality of electrical transformers. This presentation describes key features and analytical performance of a new generation of headspace autosampler coupled with a robust Transformer Oil Gas Analyzer (TOGA).
