Abstract:
Refinery Gas Analyzers (RGAs) are multi-column multi-valve gas chromatographs that are specially configured to analyze selected light hydrocarbons, permanent gases, and hydrogen. Over a dozen instrument vendors have produced thousands of RGAs, each with their own unique configurations and operating parameters. As these instruments mature and analytical requirements change, GC chemists are sometimes faced with adapting their existing RGAs to new challenges. This presentation discusses recent approaches to adapt and optimize RGAs for new use in our lab and plant.
