Abstract:
Determining the concentration of alcohols in hydrocarbon streams is important due to their corrosivity and effects on the physical and chemical characteristics of the end product. Methods such as UOP 845, a retracted method for quantifying residual alcohols in LPG are commonly used for analysis. Other standard methods include UOP 960and ASTM D7423.
The development of ionic liquid column phases enables simplification of these methods. Here we present results of analysis of alcohols in LPG by GC-FID, GC-BID, and GCMS using ionic liquids columns to facilitate separations.
