Shayne started his career at Dow in 1989 in Midland, Michigan where he contributed to development of new chromatographic and spectroscopic technologies for trace analysis of components in Dow products and processes. He moved to Analytical Sciences in Freeport, Texas in 1997 and led efforts to modernize the manufacturing labs for several plant laboratories that produced propylene oxide, ethylene oxide, and polyethylene glycols. In 2008 he joined Plastics and Specialty Packaging R&D where he developed new methodologies for analysis of polymer additives and taste and odor in polyethylene. He is an active member at ACS, holds 2 granted US patents, has delivered 20 external publications, and 6 journal papers. Before joining Dow, Shayne attended The University of Alabama, where he earned his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry. His graduate research focused on the development and application of capillary column supercritical fluid chromatography and micro-packed columns for gas chromatography. Previously, he earned a B.S. degree in chemistry in 1984 from Murray State University.
