Joel Langford is a X-ray spectroscopy specialist at Shimadzu Scientific Instruments. Before joining Shimadzu in 2018, Joel was at University of California, Irvine, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory where he was using synchrotron X-ray spectroscopy to characterize a variety of condensed materials. Joel also worked at the Desert Research Institute, where he focused on the analytical chemistry of environmental and petrochemical samples. At Shimadzu, Joel concentrates his time on developing applications for X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, and electron probe micro analysis. He also works with customers on their own applications. Some of the industries Joel has worked with include pharmaceutical, petroleum, original equipment manufacturers, agriculture, and academia.
