Dr. Raj Shah has been actively involved in the field of petroleum testing equipment and laboratory analytical instrumentation for the oil and gas industry over the past 25 plus years, and is a regular presenter at Gulf Coast conference. Dr. Shah graduated with a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Chemical Technology and received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering specializing in the petroleum field from Penn State University. In addition, he holds two certifications from Long Island University, one in Management and one in Marketing. Dr. Shah is currently the Director at Koehler Instrument Company, Holtsville NY where he has been over two decades. Dr. Shah's time outside of Koehler is centered around organizations that advance the science of the Petroleum Industry and his local community. He is a member of many professional organizations including: American Standard Testing Materials, National Lubricating Greases Institute, Society of Tribology and Lubrication Engineers, Society of Automotive Engineers, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, American Oil Chemists' Society, American Chemical Society, Society of Petroleum Engineers, European Lubricating Greases Institute and the Institute of Food Technologies. In these organizations, he holds many leadership roles. Dr. Shah has been humbled to receive multiple awards from his peers and other industry leaders.  He has been extremely fortunate to have been honored to receive the ASTM Award of Excellence three times in his career, and the ASTM Eagle award, a rare and distinct honor.  He co-edited a reference best seller titled the "Fuels and Lubrication Handbook," which is used by QC laboratories worldwide, and is a great resource for both entry level and experienced petroleum and tribology testing professionals.  A new edition of this book is currently in the works. He is a Chartered Scientist and the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Institute of Chemical technology . Dr. Shah is also a Fellow of STLE, Fellow of NLGI and a Fellow of the Energy Institute Despite his vigorous professional career, Dr. Shah finds time to give back to the community. He was on the board of directors for the Developmental Disabilities Institute until 2012, an organization which works with Autistic Children on Long Island. He is also involved in working closely with several Universities and has been on the industrial board of advisors at: Chemical Engineering : State University of New York, Stony Brook, The School of Engineering, Design, Technology and Professional programs (SEDTAPP) at Pennsylvania State University, and the Samuel Ginn College of engineering, Tribology and lubrication science minor at the Auburn University .
