Abstract:

Although ASTM D5453 (sulfur by UVF) is the referee sulfur method according to the D6751 biodiesel specification, D7039 (sulfur by MWDXRF) may also be used.  During this webinar, data from the ASTM Biodiesel Proficiency Testing Program will be examined to see how the two sulfur methods compare.  Also discussed is the importance of compensating for oxygen in biofuels when measuring sulfur by XRF and its impact on measurement results if not properly compensated for.  Lastly this webinar will review two common methods of oxygen compensation, and what this means when measuring sulfur in diesel, biodiesel, feedstocks, and renewable diesel by XRF.
