Abstract:

Microwave digestion is a popular and well-established sample preparation technique for trace metals analysis. It provides the ability to digest very difficult sample matrices at elevated temperatures, which cannot be achieved in atmospheric digestion conditions. Samples such as crude oil and polymers require rigorous conditions in order to achieve a complete digestion. We will use the MARS 6 with iPrep vessels to prepare a variety of petroleum-based products. We will cover the digestion method and provide results on these samples as well as spike recoveries of volatile elements to validate our method.
