We currently have an opening for a Service Engineer in Houston, Texas.

Position Summary: The Field Service Engineer will independently provide service on Thermo Fisher Scientific instruments involving: Installations, Training, Telephone and On-site Diagnostics and Repair Services, Performance Maintenance visits as needed and accurately documenting field service activities. Most importantly, ensuring customer satisfaction in all aspects of services provided. The Field Service Engineer will also represent the company in a positive, professional manner in all dealings with Thermo Fisher Scientific customers, both external and internal. They will receive customer service requests through pages from Customer Support Administration, Service Manager; promptly acknowledge receipt of page, and contact the customer to schedule services required and ensure that the schedule meets the customer’s needs. The Field Service Engineer will develop a plan to help sell service contracts, parts, accessories, consumables, software, upgrades and training to customer base, while working towards the regional revenue goals defined by management and will provide feedback to factory personnel for product improvements.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: An associate degree or equivalent experience is required along with 2-3 years of field service experience. We are looking for someone with proven ability to diagnose and resolve problems on sophisticated electronic, mechanical and optical instrumentation in a commercial scientific laboratory environment; ability to read, interpret and analyze component layout drawings, schematics, assembly drawings, wiring and labeling diagrams and has a proven ability to sell value based service solutions to a customer base. We are also looking for someone with a proven ability to prioritize territorial requirements (service calls, installations, and regional needs) and establish realistic schedules to meet requirements and are available for on-call weekend service as required to meet Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory needs. In addition, this position requires experience troubleshooting, installing, servicing, or operating Mass Spectrometers. Gas Chromatography PetroChemical Systems Design Engineer

Purpose:
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Chromatography Business Unit located in Shelton Connecticut. Roles and responsibilities include the participation in the development and support of standard and engineer-to-order PetroChemical Gas Chromatography systems and applications. Specific duties include the specification and design of complex valving and column configurations to meet the needs of the PetroChemical industry. The candidate will also develop new and novel sampling accessories for the traditional PerkinElmer offerings to be integrated with the GC family of products.

Key Responsibilities:
Engineer-to-Order Solutions Systems Development - Responsible for the development of custom engineered-to-order petrochemical solutions to ensure that they meet the customer requirements. Specific tasks include the specification and design of valving, column design and selection, and oven configurations to support both liquid and gas sampling. Collaborate with other team members to contribute to the design of the product.

New Applied Solutions development - Following the Petrochemical market needs and trends, the successful candidate will be responsible of developing new applications, custom turn-key analyzers and standard offering meeting official methods. The candidate will collaborate with other team members for the commercialization of such solutions.

New Product Development for Sample Handling Systems and Quality Assurance- Support the development of next generation hardware and software products related to sample handling for GC. Such products include Arnel offerings, the TurboMatrix Headspace and Thermal desorption samplers, as well as new and novel sample handing techniques under development. Specific tasks include specification and design of GC instrumentation.

Experience:
10+ years of gas chromatography with specific knowledge and experience within the petrochemical industry. Familiar with application development and optimization, including specific knowledge of complex valve designs and column selection. Strong knowledge of official methods (ASTM, UOP, EN etc.) required.

Education:

GC Applications & Engineered Solutions Chemist

Purpose:
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Chromatography Business Unit located in Shelton Connecticut. Key Responsibilities:
Engineer-to-Order Solutions Applications Development and Evaluation- Responsible for application development and evaluation of custom engineered-to-order petrochemical solutions to ensure that they meet the customer requirements. Standard Product PetroChemical Applications Development- Directly Responsible for the development of applications for both new and existing standard product offerings. Create applications, technical notes, and proof statements. Make technical presentations at trade shows and customer events. Provide sales training. Train Operations Final-Test personnel on protocols and tests necessary to ensure the product meets specifications.

Research Technician - FTC07-0082
Research Technician will provide entry-level hands on Research and Development technical support in a laboratory environment to evaluate ideas, projects and new technologies being considered for development. Under the direction of the Research Team Leader the Research Technician will build pilot and laboratory scale testing units, do testing and conduct experiments, maintain a laboratory notebook, do analysis and prepare summary data reports.

Research Technician will provide technical support for research projects. With guidance from research leader, set up experimental equipment needed to conduct research programs. With limited supervision, carry out experiments, collect data, analyze samples, organize and provide preliminary analysis of results, and recommend modifications as needed. Maintain the supply of equipment and other items used in experimental studies. Provide/participate in safety reviews, inspections, Safe Operating Procedures (SafOP's) and Job Work Instructions (JWI's), as needed, and maintain diligence in keeping a safe and clean laboratory. Research Technician will report to the Research Team Leader.

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelors degree in science field

Research Engineer will provide project leadership and direct hands-on technical support for assigned research projects. This includes executing development project according to Merichem Stage-Gate Process. Develop work plans and experimental programs. Conduct literature and intellectual property searches. Senior Analytical Chemist, Biofuels and Green Chemicals Analysis

Job Description:
Senior scientist in charge of method development and analysis of biofuels and green chemical products. Duties will include development and execution of complex analyses, developing new methods, as well as supervision of other analytical chemists in support of the research division of ADM. The position will involve development and application of sophisticated instrumental methods utilizing HPLC, GC, ICP, AA, GC/MS, LC/MS, FTIR, automated wet chemistry analyses, high throughput screening and other techniques.

Job Requirements:
Previous experience in the analysis of petroleum fuels, biofuels, organic chemicals or industrial fermentations is strongly preferred. Some relevant background is required to be considered for the position. The ideal candidate will possess a Ph. D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or Organic Chemistry. Candidates with MS or BS degrees and extensive laboratory experience will also be considered. Experience with GC-MS, LC-MS-MS, advanced FTIR techniques, as well as HPLC, GC and elemental analysis preferred. Successful candidates must have the ability to work independently and interact well with people. Position requires standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time.

Analytical Chemist

ATMI is seeking an Analytical Chemist with broad based knowledge of analytical chemistry and techniques applied to the characterization of complex mixtures. This knowledge is required to develop analytical methods, provide support to the Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality groups via QC analysis, and serve as the technical experts to better serve our customers. This position is located at ATMI's Burnet, Texas facility and reports directly to the Manager of the Analytical Lab. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Conducts routine analysis of raw materials and finished goods to ensure QC
  • Drives for continuous improvement of existing testing methods. Identifies appropriate equipment to develop processes and methods as solutions of technical problems
  • Identifies and implements proper SPC controls for analytical instrumentation
  • Maintains SQC charts for new and existing raw materials and finished goods
  • Confers with process engineers, development scientists, and manufacturing personnel regarding results and research, prepares technical reports and presentations to promote learning

  • General lab instrument (HPLC, IC, GC, ICP-MS, ICP-AES) operations and maintenance experience is required
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills are a must
  • Considerable expertise in manipulating data with MS Excel and/or working with statistical software

Job Overview:
ATMI is seeking a Development Chemist with broad based knowledge of chemical blending and analytical development techniques as well as strong leadership capabilities to drive and achieve results. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform development activities for the purpose of scaling-up new products from R&D phase to high-volume production, in accordance with NPI stage-gate process/methodology;
  • Engage with R&D scientists and product managers to transfer new products from alpha phase to beta phase;
  • Establish manufacturing plan through partnership with engineering in order to roll-out new products globally;
  • Drive implementation of new innovative manufacturing technologies to reduce product cost and increase speed to market;
  • Execute project plans and NPI scorecard/deliverables to achieve projected milestones;
  • Document manufacturing work instructions and SOPs using ISO-9000 quality system guidelines;

  • Maintain 95+% on-time-delivery and zero safety incident metrics, with a continuous improvement mindset.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in chemistry;
  • 5+ years of experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and training;
  • Experience in chemical scale up (50-gal to 3000-gal) is essential;
  • Proven ability (knowledge and experience) in analytical chemistries (GC, GC-MS, HPLC, ICP, etc.);
  • Experience in blending and filtration processes for the chemical or semiconductor industry;
  • Able to lift up to 40-lbs;
